## Official Statement

Joplin SWAT sniper long identified only as “Sniper 1” has now been named as Keaton Siebenaler, and that after leaving the Joplin Police Department in August 2025 he graduated from the Missouri State Highway Patrol academy and became a state trooper. It ties that development to the 2022 Baxter Springs hostage standoff in which he mistakenly shot and killed 2-year-old Clesslynn Crawford.
